Datalogic SG2 safety light curtains are Type 2 devices for lower-risk hand and body protection, while SG4 curtains are Type 4 for high-risk hazards such as presses. Both come in protected heights from 150 to 1800 mm and in Base or Extended versions with EDM (external device monitoring).

Installation

Installation Essentials

Do a risk assessment first. It decides Type 2 or Type 4 and the required resolution.
Calculate the safety distance. Use the machine stopping time and ISO 13855 to set how far the curtain must be from the hazard.
Wire OSSDs to a safety input. Connect both OSSD outputs to a safety relay or safety PLC — never to a standard PLC input.
Test daily. Use the test rod to check every beam interrupts the machine.
