Cable and Connector
Quality cables and connectors for reliable sensor wiring
Β
M8 and M12 sensor connector cables, field-wireable connectors and extension leads for industrial automation β straight and right-angle, 2Β m to 20Β m, 3, 4, 5 and 8 pin, with and without LED indication. Industrypapa stocks the VoxinTech VTM range alongside Datalogic and Micro Detectors cordsets, invoiced with GST and delivered pan-India.
How to read a sensor cable code
Nearly every cordset code on this page follows the same pattern, and once you can read it you can order the right part without a datasheet. Taking VTM124/5MR2LDP as the example:
| Block | Means | Options in stock |
|---|---|---|
| VTM12β¦ | M12 thread | VTM124, VTM125, VTM128 |
| VTM8β¦ | M8 thread | VTM83, VTM84 |
| β¦3 / 4 / 5 / 8 | Number of pins | 3, 4, 5 and 8 pin versions |
| /2M, /5M, /10M, /20M | Cable length in metres | 2, 3, 5, 6, 10 and 20Β m |
| R | Right-angle (elbow) connector; no R means straight | VTM124/5MR vs VTM124/5M |
| 2LDP / 3LDP / 2LDN | LED status indication, PNP or NPN | VTM124/2M2LDP, VTM124/2M3LDP, VTM124/2M2LDN |
| MC/PG7, FC/PG7 | Field-wireable connector with PG7 gland β male or female | VTM125MC/PG7, VTM124FC/PG7 |
| Shielded | Screened cable for drives and inverter-heavy panels | VTM124/2M Shielded |
Confirm the code with us when you order and we will check the pinout against the sensor you are connecting β a 4-pin and a 5-pin M12 look identical on the panel but are not interchangeable.
What we stock
M12 cordsets
The workhorse connection for photoelectric, inductive and ultrasonic sensors. 4-pin for switching outputs, 5-pin where an extra core is needed, 8-pin for multi-signal devices. Straight or right-angle, 2Β m to 20Β m.
M8 cordsets
For miniature and slot sensors where an M12 will not fit. 3-pin and 4-pin, 2Β m and 5Β m, straight and elbow.
LED versions
An indicator in the connector body shows the output state at the sensor rather than at the panel β worth the small premium on machines that are hard to reach.
Field-wireable
MC and FC connectors with a PG7 gland let you terminate your own cable to length on site, instead of stocking every length.
Datalogic & Micro Detectors
CD08, CD12M and CS series cordsets for customers standardising on the original manufacturer's accessory rather than an equivalent.
Fibre and specials
PFD-Z-78M64 and similar leads for fibre amplifiers and non-standard connections.
Choosing the right cordset
- Thread first. M8 or M12 β read it off the sensor body, not the catalogue.
- Then the pin count. 3-pin for a simple switching output, 4-pin for NO/NC or PNP/NPN, 5-pin and 8-pin for analogue or multi-signal.
- Straight or right-angle. Elbow versions save depth where the sensor faces a guard or a fixture.
- Length with slack. Buy the next length up rather than pulling a cable tight across a moving axis.
- Screening. Use the shielded version where the cable runs near a VFD or a servo drive.
- Environment. Wash-down, coolant and drag-chain duty all change what the jacket has to survive β tell us the application.
Buying sensor cables and connectors in India
Industrypapa supplies M8 and M12 cordsets to machine builders, packaging and pharma plants and maintenance teams across India. Cables are the part most often forgotten until the machine is being commissioned, so the common lengths are held in stock and ship the same or next working day. Everything is invoiced with GST and delivered pan-India, and we are happy to quote a full bill of materials rather than line by line.
Related ranges: M12 junction boxes, sensor mounting brackets, fibre optic cables, photoelectric sensors and inductive proximity sensors. For anything not listed, send us the part number.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a 4-pin and 5-pin M12 cable?
The thread and the housing are identical; the number of cores is not. A 4-pin carries supply plus one or two switching outputs; a 5-pin adds a core for a second output or an analogue signal. Match the sensor, not the socket.
Do I need the LED version?
Only if you want to see the output state at the sensor. It changes nothing electrically. On machines where the sensor sits inside a guard it saves a great deal of fault-finding time.
Can I cut a cordset to length?
You can shorten the open end, but you cannot re-terminate the moulded connector. If you need custom lengths regularly, the field-wireable MC and FC connectors with a PG7 gland are the better answer.
Are these compatible with Datalogic and Pepperl+Fuchs sensors?
Yes β M8 and M12 cordsets are a standard interface across brands, so a VTM lead works on any sensor with the matching thread and pinout. We also stock the original Datalogic CD and CS series if your specification calls for it.
