Schmersal Safety Interlock Switches
Schmersal safety interlock switches stocked in India — AZM solenoid interlocks with manual release and TZM/TZF guard locking units for machine guarding. Industrypapa supplies them with a GST invoice and pan-India delivery.
What a safety interlock switch does
An interlock switch tells the control system whether a guard is closed, and a solenoid interlock goes further: it holds the guard locked until the machine has actually reached a safe state. On anything with stored energy or run-down time — a flywheel, a spindle, a robot cell — that distinction is the whole point. A switch that merely reports the door has opened is too late.
These are guarding components, so the selection is a safety engineering decision rather than a catalogue one. The switch has to suit the risk assessment for that machine, the required performance level, and how the guard is actually used. Tell us the application and we will work through it with you rather than simply shipping a code.

Choosing an interlock
Locking or monitoring?
If the machine takes time to stop, or stores energy, you need guard locking — the door stays shut until it is genuinely safe. Monitoring alone only reports that it opened.
Power to lock or power to release
Which fails safe depends on the machine. Getting this backwards is a serious design error; it is worth confirming against the risk assessment.
Manual release
Essential where someone can be inside the guarded area. The AZM units listed carry a lateral manual release.
Contact configuration
How many normally-closed and normally-open contacts the safety circuit needs, and how they wire into the relay or safety PLC.
Buying Schmersal safety switches in India
Industrypapa supplies Schmersal interlocks to machine builders, automotive lines, packaging plants and maintenance teams across India. Because these are safety components, we would rather quote against your actual requirement than against a code alone — send us the machine, the guard arrangement and the performance level your risk assessment calls for. Replacement of an existing unit is straightforward: send us the code on the label. GST invoice, pan-India delivery.
Related ranges: limit switches, inductive proximity sensors, metal face proximity sensors and power supplies. For anything not listed, send us the part number.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an interlock and a guard lock?
An interlock reports whether the guard is closed. A guard lock physically holds it shut until the machine is safe. If the machine has run-down time or stored energy, you need the locking version.
What does the manual release do?
It lets someone open the guard from inside the danger zone if they become trapped, or release the lock during maintenance. On anything a person can enter, it is not optional.
Can I replace a different brand with a Schmersal unit?
Often, but the mounting, contact configuration and locking principle all have to match, and the change should be checked against the machine's risk assessment. Send us what you are replacing and the details of the guard.
Do you supply the safety relay as well?
Tell us what the interlock is wiring into — a safety relay, a safety PLC or an existing circuit — and we will quote the matching components rather than the switch on its own.
