The Datalogic S5N-PA-2-F01-NN is the receiver half of an S5N through-beam pair. It sits opposite a matching S5N emitter (G00 version) and switches when an object breaks the infrared beam between them. Through-beam is the most reliable sensing mode for long distances, dusty areas and dark or shiny objects.
This version has a PBT plastic M18 housing with axial optics, a sensitivity trimmer, NPN NO+NC outputs and a 2 m cable. The S5N family is Datalogic's "one for all" M18 range, built to IP67 with a 36-month warranty.
