A fiber optic sensor has two parts: a fiber amplifier that contains the light source and electronics, and a fiber optic cable that carries the light to the detection point. Datalogic OF fiber cables fit where a normal sensor cannot — small gaps, moving parts or hot areas — while the amplifier stays safely in the panel or on the machine frame.

Choosing Fiber and Amplifier
Diffuse fiber
One cable sends and receives light — detects objects in front of the tip.
Through-beam fiber
Two cables facing each other — longer range and very small objects.

Holds the LED and electronics; set sensitivity and output here.
Bend radius
Do not bend the fiber tighter than its rated radius or light is lost.
