How to Choose an Inductive Sensor
Size
Larger sensors reach further: M5/M8 for tight spaces, M12/M18 for general use, 40×40 for long range.
Flush vs non-flush
Flush (shielded) mounts level with metal; non-flush (unshielded) sticks out but senses further.
Output
PNP or NPN, normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) — match your PLC input.
Connection

Installing an Inductive Sensor
- Check the target. Steel gives full range; aluminium, brass and copper reduce the sensing distance.
- Respect the mounting rule. Leave the specified free zone around non-flush sensors and between adjacent sensors.
- Set the gap. Mount at about 70–80% of the rated distance for reliable switching.
- Wire correctly. Brown +, blue 0 V, black output; confirm PNP/NPN and NO/NC before connecting.
