The most widely used Datalogic tubular sensor — one M18 family for almost every detection job.
The Datalogic S5N packs every major optical function into a standard M18 threaded barrel, so it drops into existing holes and brackets on conveyors and packaging machines. It comes in plastic, metal and stainless-steel housings with axial or radial optics. We stock 56 S5N models — one of the largest S5N ranges in India.

Reading an S5N Part Number
Housing letter
P = plastic, M = metal, S/N = stainless steel. Example: S5N-MA is a metal-housing model.
Optics letter
A = axial (light straight out of the end), R = radial (light out of the side, 90°).
Output suffix
The last letters give the output — for example PP = PNP NO+NC, NN = NPN NO+NC. Connection codes such as C01 or B01 set cable or M12 plug.

S5N Installation Tips
- Use both lock nuts. Tighten the M18 nuts evenly — over-tightening a plastic barrel can crack it.
- Choose radial optics for tight spaces. Radial (R) models look sideways, so the sensor body can lie along the machine frame.
- Metal or stainless for harsh zones. Choose M or stainless models near washdown, oil or mechanical impact.
- Align through-beam pairs first. Align at short distance, then move the receiver to its final position and fine-tune.
