US18, UK1 and US30: Which Series to Choose?
Datalogic US18 (M18)
Short-range M18 sensor. 30–300 mm tubular (axial or radial) and 50–500 mm right-angle. PNP/NPN or analog output, 10–30 Vdc, foreground and background suppression.
Best for: bottle and cap detection, small objects, pick-and-place.
UK1 Series (M18)
Longer range in an M18 body: 50–400, 80–900, 150–1600 and 200–2200 mm. Digital, double digital, analog or mixed output. Plastic or AISI 316L stainless steel, IP67.
Best for: tank and silo level, roll diameter, loop control.
Datalogic US30 (M30)
Rugged M30 housing, 100–1000 mm or 200–2000 mm. NPN/PNP, 0–10 V or 4–20 mA output, resolution up to 0.5 mm, chemical-resistant PBT body.
Best for: automotive, packaging, ceramics, level monitoring.
Reading the Model Code
US18-PA / PR / PL
PA = axial (straight) emission, PR = radial (side) emission, PL = right-angle housing.
Suffix OH / IH / VH
On US18 and US30, OH is NPN/PNP digital output, IH is 4–20 mA analog and VH is 0–10 V analog. Confirm on the datasheet.
UK1A / C / D / F
The letter sets the range: A = 50–400 mm, C = 80–900 mm, D = 150–1600 mm, F = 200–2200 mm.

Installing a Datalogic Ultrasonic Sensor
- Check the range and blind zone. Keep the target inside the sensing range and away from the minimum distance.
- Mount square to the target. A face tilted heavily to the sensor reflects sound away and weakens the echo.
- Keep sensors apart. Neighbouring ultrasonic sensors can interfere; follow the spacing in the datasheet.
- Wire the output. Match PNP/NPN to your PLC input, or 0–10 V / 4–20 mA to your analog card.
- Teach the window. Use the teach-in button to set the near and far limits, then test with real products.
