Datalogic TL46 and TL50 contrast sensors detect printed registration marks at high speed using automatically selected RGB light. Both teach in two steps (mark, then background), but the TL46 adds a longer working distance, an aluminium housing and an analogue output on some versions.

Teaching a TL Contrast Sensor
- Mount at the right distance. 9 mm for TL50, 12 mm for TL46, at a slight angle to shiny film to avoid glare.
- Teach the mark. Place the mark under the spot and press the button for the first teach step.
- Teach the background. Move to the background and press again; the sensor sets its threshold between the two.
- Check at speed. Run the machine and confirm the output LED switches cleanly on every mark.

What is the difference between TL46 and TL50?
Both are RGB contrast sensors with 33 µs response. TL46 has a longer 12 mm distance, aluminium housing and optional analogue output; TL50 is the compact 9 mm plastic version.
Can a TL50 read a mark on shiny film?
Yes; mount it at a slight angle so reflected glare does not reach the receiver.
What does W in TL46-W-815 mean?
W indicates the white/RGB emission family used for mark detection.
