Telemecanique Heavy Duty Limit Switches
Heavy duty in the OsiSense XC range means the Industrial format: the XCKJ series, which Telemecanique describes as having the most robust head in its category, with snap positive contacts on a fixed plug-in body in CENELEC EN 50041 format. It is the specification for machinery where impact, vibration, contamination and continuous duty would destroy a lighter switch.
What makes XCKJ the heavy duty choice
Three things. The head is built to absorb repeated hard contact rather than merely to actuate. The body is zamak die-cast in the full EN 50041 industrial format, giving mass, rigidity and IK05 impact resistance. And the plug-in body construction means the contact block can be replaced without disturbing the wiring or the mechanical alignment β significant on a machine where downtime is expensive and the switch is hard to reach.

Shock, vibration and temperature

Operating temperature is -25 to +70 Β°C with storage to -40 Β°C. For applications outside this window, the XC2J range offers variable composition bodies rated from -40 Β°C to +120 Β°C.
Durability under continuous duty
Mechanical durability across the Classic and Industrial ranges is 20 million operating cycles for plunger actuation, 15 million for 30Β° cam actuation, and 10 million for multi-directional heads. On a machine cycling every four seconds, 20 million operations is roughly two and a half years of continuous three-shift running β which is why head selection matters more than body selection on very high cycle applications.
Steel and stainless steel rollers should be specified over thermoplastic wherever the target is hot, abrasive or heavily loaded.
