Telemecanique Rotary Limit Switches
A rotary limit switch is actuated by angular movement rather than linear pressure. The head rotates about its own axis, which lets a single switch accept a target approaching from more than one direction and lets it track continuous rotation on shafts, valves and hoisting drums.
Rotary heads on standard bodies
On the OsiSense XC standard range, a rotary head fitted to an XCKP, XCKM, XCKL or XCKJ body converts lateral target movement into rotation of the head shaft. Adjustable and fixed levers, with delrin, thermoplastic or steel rollers, mount onto the shaft.
Programmable rotary heads allow the actuation direction — clockwise, counter-clockwise or both — to be selected during installation, which removes a stocking variant and lets one reference serve mirrored machine builds.
Rotary cam and hoisting limit switches
The XCR family addresses rotary movement operators in hoisting and materials handling, where the switch is geared to a drum or shaft and trips at defined angular positions. XCRE and XCRF are complete hoisting limit switch units with one cable entry and positive opening contacts, providing single-speed travel limit control on overhead cranes and block hoists.
XCKMR provides single or double speed travel limit control with three cable entries and positive opening contacts, one per position — the configuration used for slowdown-then-stop sequences on long travel axes.
Belt shift monitoring
XCRT is built for conveyor belt shift monitoring, detecting lateral wander of a belt before it damages the structure. XCRT115 uses a zinc-plated steel roller with lever in a metal enclosure with 2 C/O contacts; XCRT215 substitutes a stainless steel roller for corrosive atmospheres. Both are available in versions for standard and aggressive environments.
Durability and ratings
Multi-directional actuation is rated at 10 million operating cycles, against 15 million for 30° cam actuation and 20 million for plungers — the trade for accepting approach from several directions. Sealing is IP66 to IEC 60529, operating temperature -25 to +70 °C, with shock resistance of 50 gn for 11 ms and vibration resistance of 25 gn from 10 to 500 Hz.
